Travel to Chichicastenango and Quetzaltenango

We left Guatemala City and drove to Chichicastenango. They hold a big craft and fair day on Thursday and Sunday. In the first picture notice the two women. They are loaded down with things to sell. They carry them on their head, arms, back. It was very crowded. The streets were full of shops and people. A picture of a meat market.
We walked into a shop because Frank noticed this man in native dress. He is a Shaman or a chief of the village and is responsible for keeping a history of the town. The lady is his sister. The mother and young child were taking the dried corn off the cob. The next picture is of their one church. They are burning incense on the step.
The 1st picture is of the other church. Frank is standing in front of the plaza. When he was here years ago, it was really open. Now it is surrounded by all these small shops. In the last picture the lady standing is selling onions. We sat and watched the people then went back to the bus and traveled to Quetzaltenango where we were blessed to me a family that Frank knew. When he finished his mission in 1965, his last area was Quetzaltenango, which he loves.

We had just sat down in the restaurant and ordered dinner, when the receptionist came and told Frank that someone was there to see him. It was Patty, whom Frank knew when he was a young missionary in Quetzaltenango. She was only 6 years old at the time. The young man next to Frank is her son Hector and his family. Next is her daughter and family.
This is a group picture of Patty and her family of children and grandchildren. More family members came and they brought Mother Coyoy Marin. Frank taught her, her husband and children the gospel in 1964. All were baptised except Patty because she was 6 yrs old. The next picture is of 3 of her daughters, Aurora, mother, Frank, Ester, and Patty.

A choice picture with mother Coyoy Marin and Frank. She called Frank you son, and that he had come home. A group picture with all the family. As they left Bro. Cabrera came, he is the son of the Cabrera couple we met in Guatemala. I did not get a picture of him. They warmed up our dinner and after we ate, he drove us around the town. The first stop was the Temple.
