Brother and Sister Colindres live in Santa Ana and work at the temple one day a week. He offered to pick us up and take us to Santa Ana and show Frank what it is like today. The church has really grown. There are 4 stakes and 30 wards today and there was just one small branch when Frank was there in 1962-63.
We made a stop at Lake Coatepeque. It was very beautiful. Bother Colindres brought his daughter Elizabeth with him to pick us up. She turned 8 this year and was baptised in July.She gave us a home made Christmas Card.
We next went to the town park. Across from the park is an old Gothic Cathedral. It had lots of pigeons perched everywhere. The park was like Frank remembered but it seemed smaller now then when he was a young missionary. He said he would get his shoes shined there often, and they still are shining shoes today just like they did back then. If he had known that he would have worn his other shoes just so he could get a shoe shine.

The first picture shows how narrow the streets are and how the market is right out on the street. As we were driving around looking for the apartment Frank may have lived in, we came around a corner and there was Nature's Sunshine sign. That was fun to come across. Also got a good picture of a fruit stand down town.

We drove to Chalchuapa to the Tazumal ruins. They are closed on Monday so we could not enter. There was just a chain link fence around the grounds so I was able to get a picture. We also drove by the Casa Blanca ruins. Then we went to their home. They invited us in and we sat around the kitchen table. She was fixing lunch for us and as she did so we looked at pictures and visited. They did not have running water, so outside he scooped up a dish of water out of a barrel of water and gave us a bar of soap to wash our hands before lunch. Lunch was very good. baked bbq chicken, rice, and a pasta salad with ham and pineapple in it. Two sons, a daughter , Victo and Evelin Colindres and Frank and I sat around the table, held hands while the prayer was said. We felt very honored to be in their small, humble home and enjoy their kindness and generousity. Also got a picture of their coconut tree.
