Ruins San Andres and Joya de Ceren

"having traveled in a land among many waters, having discovered a land which was covered with bones of men, and of beasts, and was also covered with ruins of buildings of every kind," Mosiah 8:8

San Andres was the first ruin we went to.  There was a nice museum then we went outside to the ruin, big mounds with some excavation done.

Lindy and Amy are standing in front of some underground stairs. A group photo in front of the mound.

On the left they are standing on a small mound overlooking the area.  On the right is a picture of the gounds before we exit.

Next we stopped at the Joya de Ceren Ruin.  It is an excavated site of a living village covered by a volcanic eruption.  It was all under a cover to protect it from the weather, so it was a little cooler.

They have excavated housing structures, a kitchen area, bed room area, porch, and religious structures. It was an interesting day.
