This is our first stop, The Savior of the World plaza. The white van that we traveled in, and Frank is getting out of it. Next picture the statue is at the far end and notice the 3 workers scrubbing the water fountain. A group picture, Us, Gibbons, Petersens, Thompsons, and Kitleys.
As we were driving through town I got this picture of a women carrying a basket on her head. The next picture is lunch in Ilobasco at Pollo Campostre. This third picture is at the end of our trip in San Sabastian at the weaving shop. This is the front entrance. Notice the items hanging on the white iron gate.
Ilobasco
This is the entrance to the ceramic factory. They make pottery and this young man is pouring mud into some forms. In the entrance they had this display of Noahs' Ark and all the animals. This town is known for miniture ceramics. This was in the town of Ilobasco.
The men(Thompson, Petersen, Gibbons, & Frank) found a place to sit, while the ladies did some shopping in the ceramic store. The streets are narrow and people walk in the street and cars are going both ways. These 3 wheel cars are used as taxies and buzz up and down the street.
San Sabastian
This lady is spinning spools of yarn. A close up of a design of a tablecloth. This man is the first weaver. Pretty colors are being used. This weaving shop was in the town of San Sabastian
The weavers just sit on a board, some remove their shoes to work the bottom boards. In the second picture notice the spools of thread on the ground. This man is putting all those threads together and then wrapping it around this big cube. Then it is placed on the frame and used in the weaving of tableclothes, blankets, hammocks.
The 4th weaver and a picture of their working conditions. Three weavers at the far end, the man wrapping the thread and the 4th weaver on the side. There were chickens and dogs running around. They work from 6 am to 6 pm and get paid $4.00 a day.
