Happy Birthday

"this is joy which none receiveth save it be the truly penitent and humble seeker of happiness." Alma 27:18

Today is my birthday. Sister Thompson brought me a loaf of homemade bread. It was so good. Sister Alas gave me a lovely little candy dish with peanut M M's in it. The best gift was just associating with such good people and their kindness. It is a happy day.
We stopped at Wendys for lunch and the group sang Happy Birthday to me there. Then we did our weekly shopping at Walmart. It was a very happy time.
Sister Majano stopped by and gave me 2 beautiful roses. While Brother Kitley was cleaning up our laptop, Sister Kitley came and said she had put a turkey in the oven and invited us for dinner. Turkey, potatoes and gravy, it was so good. Thanks Arlene.

After family home evening at the temple, we went to Petersens for birthday cake and ice cream. She had decorated for a happy birthday celebration. It was the end of a very, very happy day.

A Joyful Day

This is a beautiful picture of the temple Eileen Petersen took early this morning from her apartment, which looks right at the Temple.

We started the day by going to a fresh produce market. After are shopping and a short rest, we went to a ceramic shop. Sister Petersen got a group picture of us when we came out of the store.
I brought a small painted ceramic dish.
They showed us around the shop. Most of the workers are handicap, and Frank is talking to the manager. She spoke very good English as well as Spanish. Pres. Petersen is sitting in the store area of the business and is petting a very friendly dog.
More workers at the pottery shop. The two men are making necklaces with clay beads. In the next picture the man is showing the lady how to paint the ceramic birds. Across from the shop was a park with this big tree. Notice the big limbs.

Next we went to a place where they painted wooden trays, frames, plates, and even a childs desk. They use bright colors and paint fruit, cats, chickens, sun. Off the painting area they had a small patio with a lot of potted plants.
We ended the day going to a really good restaurant, Hacienda Real. The 11th of June is the Gibbons wedding anniversary. He offered to take us all out for dinner in celebration. The first picture is in front of the restaurant, Halls, Kitleys, Thompsons, Gibbons, Petersens, Frank. In the bathroom of the restaurant they had this beautiful orchid and some mouth wash to use. This is the kitchen area used to cook the meats.

The waiters sang to the Gibbons and gave them this Feliz 47 Aniversario. It was a fun day.

Dinner

I wish from the inmost part of my heart, that ye would harken unto my words. Having faith on the Lord; having a hope that ye shall receive eternal life; having the love of God always in your hearts, that ye may be lifted up at the last day and enter into his rest. Alma 13:27, 29
I am late getting these picture posted. I want them on my blog to remember people and events. We were responsible for the main course this Sunday. I fixed crockpot Italian cream cheese chicken. President and Eileen Petersen, Joanne Hall, Arlene Kitley, Trent Kitley, The Gibbons, and the Thompsons. We eat on the patio of our apartment complex.

I love to see the Temple

Oh the beauty of the morning sky! But you have to get out there early, a little after 5:00 for these pictures. I am usually not out early, but I was up and saw a little pink cloud, so I hurried out with my camera and got these beautiful pictures. It just lifts me up and warms my heart to see the beauties that God has created for us to enjoy. It is a testimony to me of His Love.

One night there was a full moon and I tried to take a picture of it by the temple. These pictures are the best I could do. The third picture has the moon behind the angel Moroni.

The beauty of the San Salvador Temple. The red building you can see in the background is where we live. The top floor are the apartments, we are in 205.

Brunch with the girls

Let us be wise...and do that which will made for peace. Mosiah 29:10

This was Teresa Walkers last brunch with us. They are moving back to the states June 18th. She showed us her sampler quilt that she has made, with the different blocks. Sheralie Broadbent brought a chocolate fountain with fruit for our dessert. Melissa Ruble made cold carrot cumin soup. It was very good.

We enjoy visiting and eating at our brunch. First picture:Lisa Wegkamp, Marilyn Gibbons, Teresa Walker, Sephinie Dawson, Arlene Kitley in background. Second Picture: Freestone, Delena Markland, Arlene Kitley. We had family home evening at Kitleys and took this picture to send to Petersens. "Mom and Pop We Miss You"

Sunday

Live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which God doth bestow upon you. Alma 34:38

We sure do enjoy our meal on Sunday and being together. Gibbons fixed Salmon patties for the main dish. I got to make dessert and made a peach cobbler. Gibbons, Kitleys, Halls, Thompson and Frank. I wanted to post these pictures so Petersens would know how things are, but I am so late getting it on the blog and Petersens came home to El Salvador Thurs. June 7.
