Amy, Brent and Lindy Arrive

And they journeyed a full day to arrive in the land of El Salvador 

They arrive at the airport at 8:05pm.  Notice the armed guards as they exists the terminal. We had to get a picture in front of this stone wall at the airport.

 

 

 

 

 

The picture on the left we are on Temple grounds. The Morans took us to the airport to pick up the kids. Me, Frank, Amy, Brent and Lindy. The next picture is in the apartment complex hall.

 

Sister Petersen had made welcome signs.  We are so grateful they made it here safely. 



Limon Ward

"Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous; and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart." Psalms 32:11

 

 Frank spoke to the Limon Ward in Soyapango on Saturday March 9th. After his talk we went outside and played games.  The first one was like Simon Says game. We played another game, we would be in groups of 3 and the person that was it would tell people to change places, and she would try to get in the middle.

 

 In this game they gave you a cracker to put on your forehead.  By moving your face you must try to get it in your mouth. I could not do it but the young girl in the right picture did it.

 

 

 They gave you a ballon to blow up and then you had to pop it.

 

 

We had a fun night.  It was getting dark by the time I got a group picture.  In the other picture Frank is standing with the missionaries and the bishop of the ward is on the left.

Parque Bicentenario

"Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in;  Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever." Alma 26:37

Today Brother and Sister Hall took us to a walking park.  We sat underneath a mango tree.  I am holding a mango in my hand. 

Most of the trails were dirt paths.  I and Nancy Thompson are standing by some tall bamboo shoots.

 The park was really dry but it was a pleasant walk.  We saw many butterflies and I got this great picture of one.

 

 

 

 

Frank, Rich Hall and Lon Thompson take a rest.  One area had lots of steps that Nancy and Lon Thompson, Frank and Rich and Joanne Hall are standing on the steps.

 

 

On the left we were able to get a group picture at the bottom of the steps.  Then we are climing up them.  



The Halls had us for lunch at their place, after our walk through the park.  He picked up  the Clarks to join us for lunch. It is great to have such good friends, good times, and good food.    The Clarks, Us, Thompsons, and Halls.

 This evening I went to a bridel party.  Sister Sontos and her daughter in law to be, Celeste.  They served papusas and charritos with jamica to drink and donuts for dessert.

Palace and Mercado

The Temple is closed for 2 weeks for maintenance.  The Petersens went to the States for a week to be in the snow.  Are first outing was to the National Palace and a big merecado down town. Brother Ortiz was our guide. The palace is being restored.

There were beautiful wood carvings on the doors.  Frank and Lon are standing by one.  There is a red room, where we are standing.

 

 On the left we are in the yellow room.  Then we are standing out front of the palace in the central plaza.

 

 

 

 

 

This is Brother Ortiz.  We walked from the palace to the merecado. I was nervous walking down town and the merecado was very big.



The Clarks Arrive

And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. James 3:18

 

A new senior couple arrive today- Marilee and Joseph Clark from Arizona.  She is a sister to Sister Glazier who is the mission Presidents wife. They know all the ordinances in Spanish and English.  A great couple, glad to have them here. 

Los Cebollines

 "Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another." 1 John 4:11

 

In celebration of valentines day, Pres. Lopez took us to Los Cebollines, a Mexican restaurant. Left side of table,(picture on left) Lopezs, Petersens, Thompsons at end, up right side, Justices,from Guatemala and us.

 

 

 It was a fun restaurant. We took turns wearing the sombero.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 They had live music. The beautiful girl standing behind Frank sang songs for an hour.  Then at 9:00 the mariache band played songs for an hour. We had a good evening together. 

 



Cojutepeque

"Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work.  And out of small things proceedeth that which is great." D&C 64:33

 

 Today Pres. Lopez drove us to the town of Cojutepeque.  He lived there during his youth.  We took the back roads to get there then came home on the main highway.  Got some good pictures of life in El Salvador.  They use the wood to cook their meals.

 We stopped for Pres. Petersen to look at this garden.  Frank was to protect him each time he got out of the car. So here he is directing no traffic.  This is how a lot of people get around town, their bus.

 

 We passed this cart and team, Pres. Petersen got out and talked to him.  The mans name is Garcia and he called one of his cows  deer.

 

 

 

 

We stopped for lunch at the restaurant Buena Vista. The Thompsons, Pres. Petersen and Frank.  This fun little waterfall was on the grounds and many pretty flowers.

 

We had lunch on the balcony.  This is looking at Lake Ilopongo from the balcony.  The whole drive up to Cojutepeque we could see the lake.  It is a big lake.  After lunch, Pres. Lopez took us to the park of Virgen de Fatima. This is the shrine where people come and pray to her.  Pres. Petersen is standing in the picuture.





Guest for Dinner

"Blessed be the name of our God; let us sing to his praise, yea, let us give thanks to his holy name, for he doth work righteousness forever." Alma 26:8

 I fixed cornflake chicken breast.  I felt I should fix more chicken breast and not just 6. Pres. Petersen had the impression coming out of church to invite Sister Diaz to dinner. She comes to the temple as a patron from 8:00am to 4:00pm each Tues. Wed. and Thurs. Good comes from following the prompting of the spirit.  I am glad she was able to join us.
