Chimney Rock

To get to the top of chimney rock, we hiked
up about 500 stairs.  Frank did not
try to do it, but Shirlene and I made it to the top.

It was a great view from the top.

After the hike we had lunch at the
Old Rock Cafe.

DuPont State Forest

"unto as many as received Me
gave I power to become the sons
of God; power to obtain
eternal life."
Doctrine and Covenants 45:8

We started off by going to
downtown Brevard, where the
trees were in a beautiful blossom.
We ate lunch at Rocky's ice cream parlor.
Frank was able to get his picture taken
with Elvis.

Then we went up DuPont State Forest
and did some hiking.  The first falls
we hiked to was Hooker Falls, which
drops about 12 feet into Cascade Lake.

Next we hiked to Triple Falls.  This picture is
at the bottom.  I hiked up a steep incline and
got the picture of the triple falls.

The last falls we went to was High Falls. Even Shirlene's
dog, Fancy, went with us.  It is the tallest of the falls,
cascading down 120 feet of solid granite.  It was
a great day, I love waterfalls.

Biltmore-America's largest home

"Be wise...serve the true
and living God."
Mormon 9:28

Biltmore began in 1895,
built by George Vanderbilt
A house with 250 rooms, an indoor pool
and bowling alley and beautiful gardens.

After we toured the house, we had
lunch at the Stable Cafe.  This was
originally the horse stable. Then we went
to the gardens.

Then we drove to Shirlene's house. It was
a beautiful day, lots of walking, but a fun time.

North Carolina

"Consider on the blessed
and happy state of those
that keep the commandments."
Mosiah 2:41

Gene picked us up at the airport
and drove straight to his
cabin at Lake James
It was built about 3 years ago
and is very beautiful.

Gene, took us on a short hike
that led down to Lake James.

We had lunch at the recreation complex
on the lake.

After lunch, we hiked up to look out point.
Gene and I went up on top where it
was very windy. Had to sit down.

Shirlene drove up and was there with us.  We
were there Monday night, Tuesday
night, and left Wednesday morning.
Tuesday night Gene built a fire and we
roasted marshmallows.
We had a great time there.

"And if ye do always
remember me ye shall
have my Spirit to be with you."

It was Easter and also General
Conference where Russell M. Nelson
was sustained as our new prophet and president
of the church.

After Conference we had an Easter dinner
with all the other temple missionaries.

It also snowed.

Prairie Grass Burn

Endured valiantly for the
gospel of Jesus Christ.
Doctrine and Covenants 121:29

We are standing in the prairie grass before
it was burned.
Lighting the fire. In the background
you can see us talking to an
Elder Hawkins, a site missionary.

It only took 3 minutes to burn.  They say
you cannot out run a prairie grass fire.

Relief Society

The Relief Society of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints was Organized on
March 17th 1842 in the upper room of the
Red Brick Store in Nauvoo Illinois.

I played the part of Sarah Cleveland

John Taylor ordained Sarah Cleveland as the
second counselor in the presidency.

My one line was, "I move then that we call our
organization The Nauvoo Female Relief Society."

All of the sisters, in front of the Red Brick Store.
